e-waste banned from landfill

A recent law (Session Law 2010-67) passed in North Caroline, USA, has outlawed the disposal of computer equipment and televisions at landfill sites from 1 July 2011. This is to support the state plans to reuse the materials such as metals in order to reduce its dependency on landfills.

WEEE Systems is aware that many countries are following suit in terms of e-waste legislation, but once similar laws inevitably reach the UK, it does not have to be complicated or costly. It supports all such attempts at moving business towards a more effective e-waste management system that encourages the reuse of key materials.
