U.S. Micro Corporation is expanding its IT recycling arm with the opening of a new, larger $15 million, 130,000 square foot recycling and data destruction centre in Las Vegas in the US. This new facility will use latest proprietary technology to transform a range of E&E recyclable items and materials including plastics, rare metals and materials, and CRT monitor glass into non-volatile materials for reuse and remanufacturing.

WEEE Systems applauds this venture as their efforts are very close to our own. As the fascination with the latest new gadgets and standard IT refresh cycles, there is an even more urgent call for large organisations to engage in the whole process from purchase to decommission and investigate responsible ways to transform materials that also has a positive effect on their bottom line.
