hertfordshire weee drive yields 57 tonnes of e-waste

The European Recycling Platform (ERP) compliance scheme, Hertfordshire Chamber of Commerce & Industry and the Hertfordshire Waste Partnership (HWP) recently created an initiative encouraging businesses, households, schools and students in Hertfordshire to recycle their waste electrical and electronic (E&E) equipment. The scheme yielded 57 tonnes of material in just three days including participating organisations such as the University of Hertfordshire.

WEEE Systems is encouraged by the steps taken by local bodies and councils to tackle and raise awareness of e-waste. Large organisations taking material transformation policy forward will be the driving force for awareness, setting an example to other businesses and settle concerns surrounding brand reputation. By embracing a new approach to this problem, companies can transform redundant e-waste inventory into reusable materials whilst benefiting from a share in the revenue as well as protecting its brand credentials.
