e-waste ‘may spread worldwide’

 

Professor Ming Hung Wong from Hong Kong Baptist University announced at the CleanUp 2011 Conference that the illegal disposing of e-waste to developing countries in recent years, alongside inadequate handling and disposal methods, can actually result in the return of the pollutants to developed nations.

Professor Wong calls for ‘less primitive’ ways of handling e-waste, which WEEE Systems warmly welcomes. Sadly, safe and secure methods of handling e-waste isn’t being put in place by businesses as quickly and efficiently as it should – indeed it isn’t even keeping pace with the e-waste growth. The company is urging businesses to take advantage of its Materials Transformation Ecosystem. By embracing compliance and responsibly handling e-waste, companies can benefit financially, ethically and in terms of brand reputation by recovering reusable materials for onward sale.
