scrap metal regulations urged to combat theft

 

The Local Government Association (LGA) is proposing tougher scrap metal regulations in an attempt to curb the rise in metal theft. The LGA suggests that a ban on cash payments will make it easier for thieves to be traced and targeted.

With metal theft costing the UK economy an estimated £770 million per year, it is the responsibility of leading organisations to do more to reuse and repurpose the raw materials from its E&E end-of-life equipment in order to maximise these value material assets and extend their life beyond the purpose it was originally intended.
